IPL photofacial in Pleasanton, CA, for redness and brown spots without downtime

An IPL photofacial, also called IPL photo rejuvenation, uses pulses of bright light to clear dilated capillaries and brown spots and to stimulate collagen, without bruising and without downtime. At Radiance Wellness & Aesthetics in Pleasanton the device is the Cutera LimeLight, and every plan starts with a skin consultation with Zayda Yeoh, NP. The treatment is comfortable enough that no anesthetic is needed, and you go straight back to your day.

How an IPL photofacial works

The LimeLight sends a bright beam of light into the skin through a cooling tip. Pigment in brown spots and the blood in dilated capillaries absorb that light, break down and clear, while the surrounding skin is left alone. The same energy prompts new collagen, so texture improves alongside the color.

There is no anesthetic and no bruising, which is what people mean when they call it a lunch-hour treatment. The cooling tip is the reason it stays comfortable.

What an IPL photofacial treats

  • rosacea and facial redness
  • age spots and sun damage
  • freckles
  • spider veins and dilated capillaries
  • acne scars
  • uneven texture

IPL can treat the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, legs and back. It is the treatment most often chosen at Radiance for the sun damage that shows on the chest and the backs of the hands, where a facial cannot reach.

For the condition pages, start with age spots and sun damage.

Candidacy

Is an IPL photofacial right for you?

You are likely a good candidate if you:

  • have redness, rosacea, spider veins or broken capillaries
  • have brown spots, freckles or sun damage on the face, chest, hands or arms
  • want a treatment with no downtime and no anesthetic
  • have not tanned recently and have a lighter to medium skin tone

If your skin tone is deeper, or you have been in the sun, IPL is the wrong tool and Zayda will say so. LaseMD Ultra treats pigment across all skin tones, and Laser Genesis handles redness gently.

Cost

What affects the cost of an IPL photofacial in Pleasanton

The cost depends on the area treated, a face versus a chest or the backs of both hands, and on the number of sessions in the initial series and the maintenance visits after it. Zayda gives you the cost of the plan at the consultation.

The Radiance membership includes a discount on aesthetic treatments, and payment plans are available.

  • "I initially started with Zayda to help address my aging skin concerns, ie, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles - just wanted to age a bit more gracefully. As such, we developed a proper skin care plan which soon evolved into a health care plan."

Questions

IPL photofacial questions, answered

Still unsure? Zayda will answer anything this page does not.

How much does an IPL photofacial cost in Pleasanton?

The cost of an IPL photofacial at Radiance Wellness & Aesthetics depends on the area treated and the number of sessions in your series. Zayda prices the series at a skin consultation, and the membership discount on aesthetic treatments applies.

Does an IPL photofacial hurt?

Not enough to need an anesthetic. The LimeLight uses a cooling tip that keeps the skin comfortable while the light pulses, and there is no bruising afterwards.

How many IPL photofacial sessions do I need?

Most patients complete a series of treatments spaced three weeks apart, then have a maintenance session every four months. Zayda sets the number in your series at the consultation based on what is being treated.

Is there downtime after an IPL photofacial?

No. You can return to normal activities immediately after an IPL photofacial. There is no bruising and no peeling.

Who should not have an IPL photofacial?

IPL is not suitable for recently tanned skin, very dark skin tones or anyone sensitive to light. If that is you, Zayda will recommend an alternative, such as LaseMD Ultra for pigment or a chemical peel.

Your next step

Ask about the spots you have been covering

Bring the redness or the brown spots to the consultation. Zayda will tell you whether IPL is the right light for your skin, how many sessions it will take, and what the series costs.
