Chemical peels in Pleasanton, CA, with the depth chosen for your skin and your calendar

A chemical peel is a formulated solution applied to the face that removes the top layer of skin, so fine lines, dark spots and rough texture come off with it and fresher skin comes through. At Radiance Wellness & Aesthetics in Pleasanton, every peel is planned and directed by Zayda Yeoh, NP, using The Perfect Derma Peel. A lighter SkinCeuticals peel is offered as an add-on to a HydraFacial, not on its own. Which peel, and how deep, is decided at a skin consultation, because a light peel with no downtime and a deeper peel with a week of flaking are different decisions.

What a chemical peel does

A peel does one thing well: it takes off the layer of skin that is holding the damage. Fine lines, brown spots, sun damage and rough patches sit in that top layer, and the solution lifts it in a controlled way so the skin underneath can replace it.

The strength decides the result and the recovery. Light peels need no downtime and are repeated monthly. Medium peels show a visible result after one treatment with minimal downtime. Deep peels give the biggest change and can last a year or more.

Concerns a peel can treat

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • brown spots and hyperpigmentation
  • melasma and freckles
  • dull or rough skin
  • acne scars
  • uneven tone and texture
  • enlarged pores

For pigment that keeps coming back, the melasma and hyperpigmentation pages explain what drives it and when a laser does more than a peel.

Two peel families

The Perfect Derma Peel. A medium-depth peel with a blend that includes glutathione, an antioxidant that improves clarity and brightness. It is safe for all skin types and built for the stubborn problems: acne scars, hyperpigmentation and melasma. It also firms and smooths, and full results usually show within one to two weeks. Best for someone with moderate concerns who wants a visible change from one treatment.

SkinCeuticals peels. Lighter professional-grade peels that speed up cell turnover for a brighter, smoother surface with little or no downtime. They are offered as an add-on to a HydraFacial or a facial, not as a standalone peel.

Zayda directs The Perfect Derma Peel; Darinka adds a SkinCeuticals peel to a HydraFacial when your skin will benefit. Which, and how strong, is decided after looking at your skin and asking about your week. A peel before a wedding and a peel before a quiet fortnight are not the same peel.

The appointment

What to expect

  1. i

    Consultation

Zayda Yeoh, NP, evaluates your skin type and your goals and decides which peel and which depth. Consultations are $40. The deposit is non-refundable and is credited toward your treatment.

  2. ii

    Preparation

Stop retinoids and exfoliants for one week before, and limit sun. On the day, your skin is cleansed of makeup, oil and anything else that would stop the solution going on evenly. Dermaplaning can be added at this point, so the peel reaches skin with the dead layer already gone.

  3. iii

    Application

The solution goes on, often in layers, until the right level of exfoliation is reached. Expect mild tingling or warmth as it starts to work.

  4. iv

    Setting time

The peel stays on for a set time that depends on your skin and the strength chosen, then it is neutralized or removed and your skin is cleansed.

  5. v

    Recovery

Keep the skin moisturized, wear SPF 30 or higher every day, and do not pick at peeling skin as it sheds over the next few days.

Candidacy

Is a chemical peel right for you?

You are likely a good candidate if you:

  • have pigment, sun damage or acne scarring that a facial has not shifted
  • want a visible change from one treatment and can plan a few days of flaking
  • want a light monthly peel with no downtime to keep skin bright between other treatments
  • have a skin tone the chosen peel is formulated for, which the esthetician confirms first

If the concern is deeper texture or laxity, a laser or microneedling may do more, and the consultation will say which.

Cost

What affects the cost of a chemical peel in Pleasanton

The cost depends on the peel family, the depth, and whether it is a single medium or deep peel or a series of light peels. A light peel added to a facial or a HydraFacial costs differently from a standalone Perfect Derma Peel. The exact cost is given at the consultation.
