Dermal filler in Pleasanton, CA, for volume that still moves like you

Dermal filler is an FDA-approved injectable gel of hyaluronic acid, a substance your skin already makes, that restores lost volume, softens lines and folds, and defines lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. At Radiance Wellness & Aesthetics in Pleasanton, Zayda Yeoh, NP, a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner trained in injectables through Aesthetic Medical Educators Training and IAPAM, plans and places every syringe herself. Results show immediately, settle over one to two weeks and last 6 to 18 months depending on the product and the area. Which filler, where, and how much is decided at a consultation.

Filler adds volume. Botox relaxes movement.

The two get confused, and the confusion costs people the right treatment. Botox and its siblings relax the muscle pulling a line into your skin: forehead lines, frown lines, crow's feet. Filler replaces volume that has thinned with age: the cheek that has flattened, the fold from nose to mouth, the lip that has lost its edge.

Many faces need one. Some need both. The consultation is where that gets sorted out.

Where dermal filler is used

  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds), from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines, running down from the corners of the mouth
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Lips: volume, definition and hydration
  • Cheeks: lift, contour and mid-face volume
  • Chin and jawline: definition and balance
  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth
  • Overall facial volume lost with age

Filler goes where the volume left, which is not always where the line shows. That is the difference between a plan and a syringe, and it is what the consultation is for.

How dermal filler works

Every hyaluronic acid filler is a smooth gel placed beneath the skin, where the hyaluronic acid binds water. That does two things at once: it adds volume and structure exactly where it is placed, and it hydrates the skin from within.

Each family is formulated differently, which is why the product is chosen per area rather than per patient. The detail on each is on its own page.

The appointment

What to expect

  1. i

    Consultation

Zayda evaluates your features, reviews your health history and maps the plan: which areas, which product and how much. Consultations are $40. The deposit is non-refundable and is credited toward your treatment.

  2. ii

    Preparation

In the days before, avoid alcohol, aspirin and certain supplements to reduce bruising. Zayda tells you which at the consultation.

  3. iii

    Treatment

After cleansing, the gel is placed with a fine needle or a cannula. Most patients describe a mild pinch, and most hyaluronic acid fillers include lidocaine for comfort. A session takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

  4. iv

    Aftercare

Some swelling, redness or tenderness at the injection sites is normal and fades over a few days. Most people go back to work straight away and are fully back to routine within 24 to 48 hours. Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol and direct sun for the first 24 hours.

  5. v

    Results

Visible immediately. Swelling settles over 24 to 48 hours and the final result is there at one to two weeks. Results last 6 to 18 months depending on the product, the area and your metabolism, with touch-ups as needed.

Candidacy

Is dermal filler right for you?

You are likely a good candidate if you:

  • are a healthy adult over 21 with realistic expectations
  • want to smooth folds or wrinkles, restore volume, or define lips, cheeks, chin or jawline
  • want a result that looks natural and moves with your expressions
  • want to avoid surgery and significant downtime

Filler is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a skin infection at the injection site, with a bleeding disorder or certain medications, or with a severe (and rare) allergy to hyaluronic acid. Zayda goes through all of this at the consultation.

Cost

What affects the cost of dermal filler in Pleasanton

Syringes, mostly. The cost depends on how many areas you treat, how much volume each needs and which product suits the area, since some formulas are made for fine lines and others for deep structure. Sculptra is planned as a series, so its cost is worked out differently. Zayda gives you the plan and the total at the consultation, before anything is opened.

Radiance members receive a discount on aesthetic treatments, which adds up over the touch-ups. Payment plans are available.

Questions

Dermal filler questions, answered

Still unsure? The aesthetic consultation is $40, credited toward your treatment, and Zayda will answer anything this page does not.

How much does dermal filler cost in Pleasanton?

At Radiance Wellness & Aesthetics the cost of dermal filler depends on how many areas you treat, how much volume each area needs and which product suits it. Zayda gives you the plan and the total at a consultation. Members receive a discount on aesthetic treatments, and payment plans are available.

How long does dermal filler last?

Dermal filler results last 6 to 18 months, depending on the product, the area and your metabolism. Lips tend to sit at the shorter end, around 6 to 9 months, while mid-face volume can last up to 18 months. Touch-ups are planned as needed.

Does dermal filler hurt?

Most patients describe a mild pinch. The gel is placed with a fine needle or a cannula, and most hyaluronic acid fillers include lidocaine, a numbing agent, in the formula. A session takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Is there downtime after dermal filler?

Little to none. Most people return to work or their day straight away. Some swelling, redness or tenderness at the injection sites is normal and fades over a few days, and you are back to your full routine within 24 to 48 hours.

What is the difference between dermal filler and Botox?

Dermal filler adds volume; Botox relaxes movement. Filler restores what has thinned, such as cheeks, lips and the folds around the mouth, with an immediate result that lasts 6 to 18 months. Botox and its siblings relax the muscles behind expression lines for about 3 to 4 months. Many people benefit from one, some from both.

Which is better, Juvederm or Restylane?

Neither is better; each is a hyaluronic acid filler suited to different areas. Juvederm is known for lips, cheeks and immediate smoothness; Restylane offers formulas designed for specific concerns such as fine lines and cheek volume. Zayda recommends one based on the area, your skin, your goals and how long you want the result to last.
